Once again the Club will meet up at the FIRST Robotics Southern California Regional championship to watch the final round of competition on Saturday afternoon at the Long Beach Sports Arena. Saturday afternoon are the finals of two days of intensive competition. The robot teams have cheering squads, so prepare for a LOUD geek sports event!
Free event (but parking is $10 per car). No tickets are required. The group will meet up in the Sports Arena lobby at 1 PM, to give us time to claim some space before the competition starts at about 1:30.
We will then proceed up into the stands and find a place to sit together (FIRST does not allow groups to hold seating). We will send registrants a google voice number via email and we will put a message with the appropriate arena section on the outgoing message. If you are late you will be able to find us that way.
Your organizer is a FIRST judge who will take smaller groups down into the pits to see the robots once the group is settled. Joan and/or her colleague Nick Agid will be down in the lobby with an MIT sign to gather up the group.
Parking lot entrance is on Shoreline Drive at Linden Ave, between Pine and Ocean, much closer to Ocean. Normally there are signs. We will limit the official group to 50 people to make gathering up the group and doing pit tours manageable, but if you are shut out you can still come on your own and see the event.
